PV Sindhu gave India one more reason to cheer as she beat World No. 6 Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the semi finals to become the first Indian woman to enter the badminton final at the Olympics. It was a dominating performance by the Hyderabadi who vanquished her opponent 21-19, 21-10 in just 49 minutes.
With this win, Sindhu has assured India of another medal at the Olympics. She will face world no 1, Spain’s Carolina Marin in the final on Friday.
PV Sindhu set the tone for the match from the very beginning with an aggressive game that her opponent had trouble keeping up with. Sindhu kept the pressure on Okuhara with some exquisite shots, including smashes that the Japanese player had no answer for.
