Parmeshwar Godrej, Noted Businesswoman and Philanthropist Passed away

Known philanthropist, businesswoman and style icon, Parmeshwar Godrej died in Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Monday night. According to reports, she was suffering from a degenerative lung ailment.


Married to industrialist Adi Godrej, Parmeshwar Godrej was known for her work with AIDS patients through the Heroes Project which she launched with Richard Gere in 2004.

Known as a style icon in Bollywood, Parmeshwar Godrej also designed Hema Malini’s outfits in the 1975 film Dharamatma at the request of Feroz Khan, the director and producer of the film. She was also known as one of the earliest socialites of India, and her parties attracted the most popular celebrities of India and the world. She also hosted Oprah Winfrey at her Mumbai bungalow in 2012.
