With the kick start of Amazon India Fashion Week Autum/Wintwer 16 the fashion fever is high in the capital and designer Varun Bahl gave it an oomph on the first day with his collection titled ‘Nocturne’.
Bahl’s garbs are popular for precision cuts that allow wearers to layer and style it. And this collecion was no exception. As mentioned by the designer, the collection was meant for the woman who has decided to give into her love for bohemian with abandon. The collection highlighted random motifs and textures mixed together to create a world of fantasy.
Tailored in neoprene, handwoven silk, crepe and tulle with intricate floral threadwork on the tunics, slim pants, diaphanous skirts, ruffled dresses and sequinned bombers the collection had abundant of sheer, opaque and subtle shimmer inspired by Gauguin tropical forests that made the colletion an apt pick for evening soiree.
Multiple textures padded the body, covering it with foliage, flowers and sheer panels that could well have been a visual metaphor for the receding warmth of autumn as it leads into winter.
Floral prints over black and beige, made up of different floral patterns looked elegant and were well coordinated in terms of aesthetics.
Long jackets and dresses in jacquard showed fine finish. And the minimal slit gave it a classic touch.
“Our new collection is for the woman of today expressed through elegance, balance and proportion. Contemporary embroideries and textures in a range of warm colours inspired from flora and fauna remain our much-loved thought to create this collection,” Varun Bahl concluded.
